DP World opens Bologna food logistics hub with 30,000 pallet positions

The 22,000 m² multi-customer operation near Bologna combines temperature-controlled storage, transport and fulfilment, with organic food company Alce Nero as its anchor customer.
DP World has launched its first Italian contract logistics operation dedicated to fast-moving consumer goods at Castel San Pietro Terme, near Bologna.
The 22,000 m² facility has approximately 30,000 pallet positions and temperature-controlled storage at 18–20°C. The operator says it can handle organic products and has capacity for additional customers across food and beverage, consumer goods and e-commerce.
The operation was established through a partnership with Alce Nero, the Italian organic food company serving as anchor customer. DP World manages warehousing, e-commerce fulfilment and transport for the business.
The opening adds pallet-storage capacity to DP World’s European logistics network. The announced pallet-position figure describes storage capacity; it is not an annual throughput figure or a pallet manufacturing total.
