MPA says GFS PRIDE sank and GFS GISELLE suffered hull damage after reported projectile strikes. All 43 crew members are safe, with no injuries reported.

Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority said on 14 October that two Singapore-registered container vessels were reportedly struck by unknown projectiles while passing through the Strait of Hormuz on 13 and 14 October, Singapore time.

According to MPA, GFS PRIDE sustained damage and a fire before sinking; all 21 crew members were evacuated safely. GFS GISELLE suffered hull damage but reached a safe anchorage under its own propulsion. Its 22 crew members are safe. No injuries were reported.

The authority is monitoring the situation with the vessels’ management company. The incidents concern container freight through the strait; the release does not establish a wider route closure or quantify pallet-cargo losses.
