Maersk’s October update advises early bookings for North American ocean freight as vessel delays, typhoons and draft restrictions constrain available space.

In its 7 October North America update, Maersk says transpacific capacity is expected to remain tight through October. Typhoons and vessel delays are affecting schedules, while two Gemini sailings were cancelled around Golden Week. The carrier advises customers shipping from Asia to book early and allow extra time. On transatlantic routes, Maersk recommends at least three weeks’ notice from Northern Europe. It also reports continued draft restrictions at Livorno and Salerno and reduced vessel loading on Canada’s East Coast because of low water levels. These carrier-specific conditions are relevant to palletised goods moving in containers; availability should be confirmed for individual shipments.
