Port of Los Angeles sets monthly container record above one million TEUs
The US port reports 1,042,652 TEUs handled in September, its busiest month on record, with loaded imports up 19% year on year.
The Port of Los Angeles announced on 9 October that September container throughput reached 1,042,652 TEUs, exceeding its previous monthly record.
Loaded imports totalled 545,696 TEUs, up 19% from September 2025, while loaded exports reached 125,751 TEUs, up 10%. The port also reported its busiest quarter, with nearly three million TEUs handled from July to September.
The figures describe container throughput, not pallet counts or proof that individual shipments face delays. The port attributes stronger activity to resilient consumer demand, inventory replenishment and cargo shifting between trade routes.
