WEC Lines adds fourth vessel to Canary Islands service

The NWC CAI short-sea service will use four 868-TEU vessels on a 28-day rotation, linking Northern Europe, Portugal, Spain and the Canary Islands.
WEC Lines has announced an increase from three to four dedicated vessels on its NWC Canary Islands service. The revised operation will use four ships of 868 TEU each on a 28-day rotation.
The carrier says the additional vessel is intended to ease operational pressure and improve schedule reliability for import and export cargo between Northern Europe, Portugal, Spain and the Canary Islands. These are the operator’s stated aims; the announcement does not provide independently measured reliability results or a firm implementation date.
For businesses moving palletised goods in containers, the change concerns available shipping arrangements and planning reliability. Shipment-specific schedules and booking availability remain matters to confirm with the carrier.
