HSE launches campaign to prevent workplace noise and vibration harm
The workplace regulator is urging employers to assess exposure, control risks at source and protect workers before hearing damage or hand-arm symptoms develop.
HSE launched a noise and vibration prevention campaign on 13 October, with practical resources for employers in manufacturing, maintenance, waste management and other exposed sectors.
Its approach is to assess who is at risk, reduce exposure through equipment choices, maintenance and engineering controls, then protect workers against remaining risks. HSE also highlights appropriate training and health surveillance where required.
For pallet workshops and repair businesses, the campaign is relevant wherever machinery or hand-held tools create these exposures. It promotes prevention under existing workplace noise and vibration duties, rather than announcing a new pallet-specific rule. The official campaign image illustrates tool use, not a pallet-business incident.
